Winsley CofE Primary School has welcomed Rosie Monks as its new Headteacher as the school begins the new academic year. Rosie joins Winsley with extensive experience in primary education and a commitment to helping children achieve academically while growing into confident, compassionate and successful young people.

She said, “I am incredibly proud to have joined Winsley CofE Primary School and become part of such a warm and welcoming community. Primary education is about so much more than academic success alone. It is about helping children discover who they are, develop confidence in their abilities and learn the values that will guide them throughout their lives.

“My ambition is for every child at Winsley to leave us not only with excellent foundations for the next stage of their education, but also as kind, conscientious and thoughtful citizens. We want our children to be inquisitive, to ask questions, to embrace new experiences and to develop a genuine love of learning that stays with them long after they leave our school.”

Westbury Leigh Church of England Primary School has welcomed Darren McKay as its new Headteacher, with a pledge to create a school where children, families and staff can thrive.

Darren joins the school as it continues to develop as part of the Palladian Academy Trust, bringing a focus on educational excellence, strong relationships and child-centred leadership.

Following his first visit to Westbury Leigh, Darren said, “What really struck me was the potential. The school has fantastic grounds, wonderful facilities and, most importantly, amazing people. Every adult I met wanted the very best for the children. There was a real sense of care, pride and ambition, and that inspired me straight away.”

At the heart of Darren’s approach is a belief that children flourish when they feel safe, valued, understood and inspired.

“My job is to help people become the best they can be,” he said. “That means supporting children to learn and flourish, supporting colleagues to grow and develop and creating a culture where everyone feels they belong.”
