Governance
Palladian Academy Trust

At Palladian, we know it takes a community to raise a child – and our children are our future. That’s why Palladian Trustees and Local (School) Governors devote a fraction of our time each week to understand, guide and support our schools where we can. We’re looking for like-minded people from all walks of life and experience to join us in our purpose to ensure our young people are getting the very best quality care and education.

Strategy Poster 2025 26 (3)

Within our family of schools in Bath and Wiltshire we are looking for Trustees and Local Governors who can bring diversity to our board and support our sustainability agenda. Our Trust-wide vision of excellent and equitable opportunities so everyone can flourish encapsulates our focus on diversity, inclusivity and equity. Working alongside our talented leaders and staff, we provide the oversight that ensures this is the experience of all the members of our Trust - our pupils, our staff teams and our governors.

As some of our schools are Church of England Schools we are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who are practicing Christians and who would be willing to be appointed by one of our Dioceses to be part of ensuring the Christian Distinctiveness of our Church Schools as part of their governance role.

Trustees and Governors have a privileged role as we advocate for quality education for all our pupils. We ensure those at the coalface, whose vocation is to improve life chances for our children, are supported through difficult decisions as we hold safe the space for reflection and challenge. Holding the executive leaders in this way is a valued role that brings much reward as we see the impact of how our knowledge, experience and time bring dividends for our pupils.

A volunteer governance role within education is an excellent opportunity to develop experience of strategic thinking, leadership, compliance, data analysis and an understanding of the education system and for those who take on the Trustee role, budgetary experience and non-executive director experience.  Professional development is an integral part of the role as we seek to model being life-long learners to our pupils.

Here are some quotes from our Governor survey in 2024:

"The Trust is moving towards a great balance of local and central governance and I'm really proud to be playing my part in that. The balance is never static nor perfect but guided by both the internal and external environment schools are operating in and my experience of the Trustees and the CEO is that they get that. I would have no hesitation recommending this model of governance to the school community and other schools - allowing for local insight but maintaining high integrity and streamlined operations." Local Governor

"I value the work of the governors and their support in hold the school to account." Headteacher

"It's a worthwhile way to make a contribution to education." Local Governor

"It's rewarding to be involved and have a positive influence." Local Governor
