Here's just a few things that have been happening in term 3.

  • Churchfields: Our recent school disco was a huge success - what an energetic way to spend a Friday afternoon! Thank you to everyone in our community who organised decorating the hall and creating such a fun opportunity for our pupils.
  • Central: Our Education Excellence team are delivering National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) as part of the Best Practice Network for aspiring Headteachers and SEND practitioners at The Bridge again this year - sharing their expertise and generating income for our Trust. We also celebrated volunteer non-execs (governors, trustees & members) on National Governors’ Awareness Day. Thank you to all who took part in the development conference (on a Saturday morning #dedication!) and our AGM.
  • Combe Down: Year 4 created Lunar New Year dragon puppets! We made these to introduce our English text 'Where the Mountain meets the Moon' by Grace Lin. They explored the structure of a myth, learnt about direct speech, subordinating conjunctions and how to use similes and metaphors to create their own. Fabulous work.
  • Fitzmaurice: In History lessons, Blackbird and Falcon class made comparisons between toys from the past and the present. To celebrate this learning and encourage discussion, we had an amazing teddy bear picnic. The children had a fantastic time, and their teddies got to enjoy some squash and a biscuit!

  • Oldfield Park Infant: We have been having loads of fun in PE this term - focusing on ball skills, with lots of games and activities that involve rolling, throwing, catching, kicking and balancing balls. The children have shown great enthusiasm and teamwork while building their confidence and coordination — lots of smiles and active learning all round.
  • Oldfield Park Junior: The netball squad had the opportunity to watch Team Bath play this term. They had an awesome time and even managed to get a few signatures!
  • Ralph Allen: Our Oliver production this term has been the culmination of weeks of hard work from our amazing staff and Oliver cast. A huge pre-show morale boost came in the form of a good luck message from the West End’s very own Nancy, Fagin, Bill and Bet.
  • St Martin’s Garden: Year 5 have been working with the Voices for Life team as part of the Stardust project. Our wonderful pupils put on an amazing performance at Bath Abbey to a sold out audience! We are immensely proud of them.
  • St Philip’s: Kestrel Class planned and cooked a richly seasoned minestrone soup, served with a marvellous spinach and cheese plaited loaf. We thoroughly enjoyed preparing and eating the dish. Cutting the vegetables and kneading the sticky dough was a highlight. When we finally got to taste our masterpiece most of the class thought it tasted incredible and we felt proud of what we had accomplished together.
  • Westbury Leigh: Congratulations to Years 3 & 4 on their Stardust performance at the Wiltshire Music Centre. What an amazing performance! The children were fantastic, singing loudly and confidently while performing all the dance moves. They practised over the past few terms, and their hard work truly shone through. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them.
  • Westwood with Iford: Playtime magic in the sunshine! Our young explorers had an absolute blast mixing, scooping, stirring, and creating in the mud kitchen today! There’s just something wonderful about getting hands-on, working together, and letting imagination lead the way.
  • Widcombe Infant: Our families donated to @rags2riches4schools this term - hundreds of items of clothing donated to charities whilst creating some cash for school. That’s what we call a win-win! Thank you.
  • Widcombe Junior: As part of our school languages day, the children “travelled” to different countries in Asia. One of the stops was in Sri Lanka, where Mr Mann shared his own heritage. Being half Sri Lankan and having lived and worked there for a while, he shared stories of his family history and of the things Sri Lanka is famous for. He then cooked the children a Sri Lankan delicacy called egg hoppers, a type of pancake, made with rice flour and coconut milk. Who knows, maybe pancake day in some homes might have a Sri Lanka twist this year!
  • Winsley: All our children had age-appropriate first aid training this term! Thank you to @monktonbath and Dee for organising and running this training for our children. Older children learnt what to do in an emergency, CPR and the recovery position and our younger children learnt what to do in an emergency, what happens when you go to the doctor and even learnt how to clean a wound and put on a plaster.
